The Gold Coast
We have had a great time during our stay on the Gold Coast. We met up with Ali O'Shea (a girl we both went to Dowdales with who lives out here) and her husband and stayed at their place for a few days. They were great hosts and took us on a day out to Tambourine Mountain stopping at many lookout points along the way to take in the fantastic views across the Gold Coast. We also visited Springbrook National Park and walked to see the Natural Arch. These are both places we would have struggled to get to without a car so we are really grateful to Ali and Brett for taking us.
We spent a day on palm beach watching people surfing and kite surfing while soaking up the sun. We visited Burleigh Heads National Park, walking the coastal trail and to the lookout points taking many photographs of the fantastic views.
We had a great day at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. A National Trust ran santuary which only houses animals native to Australia. Within the park there is an animal hospital where injured or sick wild animals are treated before being returned to the wild where possible. We saw wombats, Tasmanian devils, kangaroo, crocodile, birds of prey and koala. We even got the opportunity to cuddle a koala.
