Sea Kayaking and Walking in the Abel Tasman National Park

Our last few days on the South Island were spent in the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park. We took a water taxi and walked part of the Abel Tasman Coastal Track which is one of the Great Walks of New Zealand. During the four and a half hour walk we experienced the true weather of New Zealand as they say you can experience four seasons in a day. We had numerous clothes changes as there were gale force winds, torrential rain and glorious sunshine. We also went sea kayaking which was great fun. We were able to explore coves, beaches, sea caves and saw lots of wild life. The sea was calm and the sun was shining when we set off. However, this changed in the afternoon and the sea became really rough. The journey back was tough and very different to our usual kayaking on Coniston Water in the sunshine.
